Please Vote Your Washington State Member Ballot, If You Haven't Already

The Washington State Legislature returns for business next week, January 11. Have you voted your NFIB Washington State Member Ballot? It’s important you do. Unique among business associations and other groups, the lobbying positions NFIB takes in Olympia and in Washington D.C. are based on what its small-business-owning members say is important to their ability to own, operate, and grow their enterprises. Since its early history, NFIB’s work on policy issues has been determined through a one-member, one-vote balloting process of its membership, which is why state and federal policymakers recognize and respect NFIB as the true Voice of Small Business. The Washington State Legislature returns for business on Jan. 10, 2022, and NFIB is looking for its members’ opinions on three issues in particular.
  • Should the Legislature enact a “right to repair” law for certain consumer electronics?
  • Should a “loser pays” requirement apply in all workers’ compensation appeals?
  • Should Washington state’s Business & Occupation tax be replaced?
The ballot has background information on the three issues, and the main arguments proponents and opponents are making. Please give it your say. It was a busy 2021 for NFIB Washington. Check out State Director Patrick Connor’s close-of-session, wrap-up story for the small-business victories and disappointments. Interested in becoming a small-business advocate in Washington state?
