CARSON CITY, Nev., Dec. 29, 2023—In the wake of a survey on small business financing released this week, showing Main Street entrepreneurs not looking at 2024 with much optimism, the Nevada director for their leading association called on policymakers and the people to step up their support for the most important component of every economy.

“Increasing interest rates. Increasing prices. Increasing difficulty in finding employees. Increasing minimum wage. That’s what small business owners across Nevada are facing as we leave 2023 and enter a new year,” said Tray Abney, Nevada state director for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), which conducted the survey.

“We want to encourage every Nevadan to support their job-creating neighbors and friends throughout 2024 and urge our elected leaders at every level of government to remember who provides jobs to their constituents and tax dollars to their coffers. Small business owners are working people and should be treated as such.”

In her analysis of the survey results, Holly Wade, executive director of NFIB’s Research Center said, “More small business owners report that higher interest rates are impacting business operations. Even with financing concerns, small business owners have expectations for a solid holiday season but aren’t confident in their local or national economy going into the New Year.”

The survey looked at:

* Borrowing
* Financing Concerns
* Holiday Sales
* Experience Accessing Financing
* Reasons to Seek Financing
* Type of Financing
* Financial State of Business and Economy
* Beneficial Ownership Requirements
