Tell New Jersey Lawmakers: No Workers' Comp Fee Increases!

NFIB is joining over 30 organizations in New Jersey to fight against a proposal to raise attorneys’ fees in workers’ compensation cases. The proposed legislation also changes how fees are calculated, making it easier for an attorney to receive the new maximum fee of 25%. A5659 will significantly increase the attorney fee cap in workers’ compensation from 20% to 25% while severely restricting the factors that a judge of compensation may consider when determining the reasonableness of an attorney’s fee request. In most cases, 60% of fees are required to be paid by the employer. Increasing attorneys’ fees will increase premiums and operational costs for small businesses without providing any new benefits or resources for employees injured on the job. This legislation isn’t about protecting workers, it’s a handout to greedy lawyers. Tell your lawmakers to vote NO on higher costs for local businesses!
