The Illinois Retirement Savings Program — Secure Choice — Was First Passed Into Law in 2018

NFIB Webinar on Illinois Secure Choice

NFIB in Illinois hosted an informative webinar last fall to help members learn more about what the Illinois Secure Choice program means for small businesses in the Prairie State. Illinois law required that employers with 16 or more Illinois employees and that have been in business for at least two years must offer their own retirement plan or facilitate Illinois Secure Choice by November 1, 2022. The threshold will be lowered to five or more employees on November 1, 2023. NFIB in Illinois partnered with the Illinois Secure Choice program to educate small businesses on how to comply with this mandate. In this webinar session, Christine Cheng from the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office provided an overview of why the program exists, how it works, and what small businesses need to know to comply.
