IOWA: What's Happening for Small Business Owners NOW

State Director Matt Everson and Grassroots Manager Ben Abrahamson have the latest on small business issues in Iowa! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us and MAKE YOUR VOICES HEARD! On the political side, here’s the latest from Matt:
  • ICYMI, The U.S. Supreme Court concluded its 2022-2023 term on June 30. NFIB was instrumental in helping win six major cases by filing several amicus briefs on a range of topics. Read More HERE how NFIB helped fight against Big Banks, the EPA and Big Labor at the highest court.   
  • As Iowa’s 2023 fiscal year came to an end on July 1, revenues are on pace to hit targets despite major income tax cuts and the elimination of taxes on retirement income that were implemented on January 1. Read more HERE from ITR Foundation on how sound tax policies are working and will add another $800 million surplus to the reserve funds in FY23.
  • Despite a U.S. Supreme Court ruling against President Biden’s student debt forgiveness plan. The Biden Administration announced another plan to hand out billions of dollars to the elite college graduate class.  Read more HERE about The Presidents NEW plan that will surely affect the small business communities pocket book.

  • Advocacy Center:  Did you know that NFIB has its own advocacy center. It is a good resource for members to learn how to get engaged, contact their elected officials, participate in election, work with the media, and customize their member profile. To check it out click here.
  • Grassroots uses e-fed data every day?! From fulfilling media requests to building issue activists, we use the data you collect to strengthen the voice of small businesses. You make it easy for us to easily identify the right people to engage, and we can’t thank you enough!
