Watch: What you need to know about Paid Family & Medical Leave

Recently, NFIB held a virtual event about the status of Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) and how it will impact small business owners in Connecticut. NFIB State Director Andy Markowski was joined by representatives from the Connecticut Paid Leave Authority to explain the status of PMFL. Thanks to our small business owners for speaking out on the issue and making their voices heard. NFIB has been very vocal about fighting this program in Connecticut. The legislation which created the program passed in 2019 and in 2021, payroll collection started from employees which funded the program and in 2022, the leave benefits of the program took effect. There have been a lot of questions from our members about the program, see below for more information. Please feel free to reach out to Amber or Jessica with any questions regarding PMFL, especially if you’re self-employed or a sole proprietor.
