'It’s essential that the General Assembly evaluates how each piece of legislation could affect Main Street.'

NFIB State Director Tom Underwood urged the General Assembly to carefully consider the impact of legislation on Kentucky’s small businesses before passing it.

“Small business is the cornerstone of Kentucky’s economy,” Underwood said. “It’s essential that the General Assembly evaluates how each piece of legislation could affect Main Street.”

According to the latest NFIB Small Business Optimism Index, small business owners nationwide are more optimistic about the economy’s direction. However, they continue to face challenges such as rising costs and a shortage of qualified workers.

“Legislators need to recognize the challenges our small business members are facing and pass laws that help them grow and create jobs,” Underwood said. “We look forward to working with Governor Beshear and legislative leaders on policies that empower Kentucky’s entrepreneurs to own, operate, and grow their businesses.”
