Issues
Workers' Compensation and Labor Laws in Ohio
Ohio's dividend credit on workers' compensation premiums masked systemic problems within the workers' compensation system. Furthermore, Ohio Supreme Court rulings during the 1990s expanded benefits and increased costs while allowing for a greater amount of abuse. NFIB/Ohio is working on a number of reforms aimed at improving the performance of the workers' compensation system while reducing costs for small business.
Healthcare in Ohio
The cost of healthcare continues to be the No. 1 concern for small business owners, not only in Ohio, but also across the nation. NFIB's Small Business Problems and Priorities, published every four years, indicates that rising healthcare costs continues to be the top concern, with two-thirds of business owners identifying the problem to be at a crisis level.
Taxes in Ohio
While efforts have been made at the federal level and numerous other states to reduce or eliminate the death tax, Ohio has been reluctant to take on this anti-family-business tax.
