Small Businesses Support Bipartisan “Right to Repair” Legislation

Small Businesses Support Bipartisan “Right to Repair” Legislation

March 4, 2025

The REPAIR Act would eliminate barriers for independent auto body shops

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Mar. 4, 2025) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, sent a letter to Rep. Neal Dunn (FL-02) in strong support of his legislation, the Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair (REPAIR) Act. This bipartisan proposal would ensure independent auto repair shops will have access to the same tools, software, and manuals as manufacturers and authorized service centers.

“The REPAIR Act is a much-needed piece of bipartisan legislation to increase competition in the automotive repair industry and keep money in consumers’ pockets,” said Andrea McGee, NFIB Principal of Federal Government Relations. “NFIB represents countless businesses in rural areas that only have local independent vehicle repair or aftermarket parts shops. Without access to an independent vehicle repair shop, consumers will be forced to spend more time away from their own businesses and take more money out of their pockets. We appreciate Rep. Dunn and Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez for introducing this important legislation to remedy this issue that impacts many small businesses across all industries.”
