NFIB’s Annual Fly-In takes place June 9-11 on Capitol Hill
WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 9, 2025) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, is hosting its annual Washington, D.C. Fly-In this week on Capitol Hill. During this two-day advocacy event, small business owners will meet with lawmakers to share their unique stories on how the 20% Small Business Deduction has helped grow their business and the impact it will have if it expires. The event will also focus on other top small business issues, including the need for Congress to repeal onerous Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting mandate.
“This week, small business owners will have the opportunity to speak with lawmakers about the importance of the Small Business Deduction, and what it means for their employees, job growth and our economy,” said NFIB President Brad Close. “As Congress continues to work on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and other significant legislation, we look forward to connecting Main Street America with policy makers to make sure small business issues remain a priority.”
During meetings on Capitol Hill, small business owners will be advocating for two main priorities:
- Making the Small Business Tax Deduction permanent – Without Congressional action this year, nine out of 10 small businesses will see a massive tax hike. Making this deduction permanent will protect small businesses and help level the playing field with their larger corporate competitors. It was included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and NFIB urges the U.S. Senate to pass this legislation.
- Repealing the Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) Requirement and Registry – While U.S. small business owners don’t currently have to comply with BOI reporting requirements, small business owners are urging Congress to repeal the law and for the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) to destroy all beneficial ownership information data already submitted by U.S. small businesses.
NFIB members will also hear from distinguished speakers within the Trump Administration, Congress, and the small business community:
- U.S. Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson – Speaker Mike Johnson is the 56th Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and a Republican member of Congress proudly serving Louisiana’s Fourth District. On October 25, 2023, he was elected unanimously by his House Republican colleagues to serve as the Speaker. After a tenure of less than 6.8 years in the House, Mike was given the honor faster than any person in history except for Speaker John G. Carlisle in 1883, who had previously served for only 6.75 years.
- U.S. SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler – Kelly Loeffler, the 28th Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, is an entrepreneur, executive, philanthropist, and former U.S. Senator and NFIB Guardian Award winner from Georgia who has dedicated her three-decade career to growing businesses and advancing economic opportunity for all.
- U.S. Representative Warren Davidson (OH-08) – Warren Davidson represents Ohio’s 8th Congressional District. He is a member of the House Financial Services Committee, where he is focused on policies that help grow our economy, instill fiscal discipline, advance innovation, and limit runaway government expansion.
- Kevin Hassett, Director, White House National Economic Council – Kevin Hassett is the 15th Director of the White House National Economic Council. An acclaimed economist, he has over 300 published papers and is one of the world’s most preeminent scholars on the relationship between tax policy and business investment.
- Carol Roth – Carol Roth is a “recovering” investment banker; entrepreneur and small business owner; media pundit; economic, business, and financial commentator; small business expert; and 2x New York Times bestselling author. Her books include The Entrepreneur Equation, The War on Small Business, and You Will Own Nothing.
NFIB will also host a pop-up donut food truck event from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 11th at the corner of C St & First St SE across from the Capitol South Metro Station. Members and staff can grab a donut and coffee, chat with NFIB members, and learn how policies like the Small Business Tax Deduction can help small businesses stay competitive. Save the date and add it to your calendar here.
