Main Street Supports Legislation to Reduce Regulatory Burdens

Main Street Supports Legislation to Reduce Regulatory Burdens

February 10, 2025

The Prove It Act would minimize red-tape and compliance burdens for small businesses

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Feb. 10, 2025) – The National Federation of Independent Business, the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, sent letters to Congress in support of the Prove It Act of 2025, legislation that would strengthen the requirements for government agencies when analyzing the impact of regulations on small businesses, as well as increase small business engagement in the regulatory process.

“The Prove It Act will address the disproportionate impact that government regulations have on small businesses,” said Dylan Rosnick, Principal of Federal Government Relations. “This legislation not only remedies the loopholes in the Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA), but it empowers small businesses to take part in the rulemaking process and provide much-needed feedback. NFIB strongly supports the Prove It Act and urges lawmakers to take action to reduce the onerous regulatory burdens facing small businesses nationwide.”

NFIB members consistently rank “unreasonable government regulations” as one of the top problems facing their businesses. The Prove It Act of 2025 seeks to address the loopholes in the Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA), which is a priority for small businesses. A White Paper analysis by the NFIB Small Business Legal Center explores the lack of RFA compliance by administrative agencies and what Congress can do to reinvigorate the RFA as a legitimate constraint on the one-size-fits-all agency rulemaking.
