HELENA, Mont., Feb. 21, 2025—This is the year it comes to an end. The 20% Small Business Tax Deduction, which has been a lifeline for many Main Street enterprises and a shot in the arm for others, is set to expire—unless Congress acts. Angela Zuba of Kalispell joined fellow small business owners from around the nation this week to press the case for making the deduction permanent.

“This deduction enabled us to actually keep our doors open,” said Zuba on a Small Business Rundown Podcast produced by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), which hosted this week’s Small Business Deduction Summit in Washington, D.C. Eliminating the deduction, said Zuba, “will stop us from being able to expand. We are hoping to bring on two more fulltime employees.”

On the 20-minute podcast, Zuba and three other small business owners discuss the positive ripple effects the deduction has had on their local area economies. You can find the podcast episode on the NFIB website and on YouTubeApple PodcastsSpotifyAmazon MusiciHeart Radio, and most other podcast apps by searching “Small Business Rundown.”

“There is no one who commands the attention of elected officials – and holds it – better than a small business owner from back home,” said Ronda Wiggers, state director for NFIB in Montana. “That’s because every one of them knows small business owners are more than just entrepreneurs, they are also pillars of their communities in many other ways. We are extremely grateful for Angela Zuba taking time away from her business, never an easy thing to do, to make the trek to D.C. to lobby for something that will benefit all small business owners from coast to coast.”
