NFIB State Director Hunter Loggins moderated Gov. Brian Kemp’s small business roundtable at Samson Trailways, an NFIB member business in Atlanta. The discussion focused on how Georgia’s civil litigation climate affects insurance rates for small businesses and their communities. Participants included Governor Kemp, Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, House Speaker John Burns, Insurance Commissioner John King, legislators, and small business owners. “Stopping lawsuit abuse and keeping insurance rates in check will be two of NFIB’s top priorities in next year’s session of the General Assembly,” Loggins said after the event. John Sambdman, CEO of Samson Trailways, said he was glad to host the governor’s event in his company’s vast garage. “We sincerely appreciate Governor Kemp, Lieutenant Governor Jones, Speaker Burns, Commissioner King, and all the other leaders for coming here today to engage with small business owners about the financial toll that lawsuit abuse is taking on Georgia’s economy,” Sambdman said. “Frivolous lawsuits lead to higher insurance rates, which small business owners can’t afford, especially with inflation driving up the cost of doing business.” The event was streamed live on the governor’s Facebook page.
