NFIB State Director Chad Heinrich testifies before the Senate Finance Committee in support of aligning the state tax code with the forms issued by the Department of Revenue
While testifying before the Senate Finance Committee’s hearing in support of tax conformity, NFIB State Director Chad Heinrich urged state policymakers to move quickly to align the state tax code with the forms issued by the Department of Revenue, given that the tax filing is well underway.
“Our small businesses are sending tax forms to folks, are receiving tax forms, and are actively in tax season, but we don’t know what the state is going to take from our 2025 gross income yet,” Heinrich said. “It is imperative that we take action.”
Heinrich continued, urging the state to fully conform with the tax changes made at the federal level.
“Moving forward, we would urge you to conform with the business expensing provisions that were included at the federal level. These are gamechangers for the small business community, allowing expensing of our investments upfront so we see some tax benefit as we’re building, hiring people, and buying equipment.”
