Voters Pass Ballot Question Easing Tax Burden on Small Businesses

NFIB State Director Hunter Loggins released the following statement on Referendum Question A, a ballot question easing the financial pressure on small businesses by raising the threshold for paying taxes on tangible personal property:

“Georgia’s small businesses already pay sales taxes on equipment, desks, and other property. The tangible personal property tax means they must pay taxes on the same items year after year. That makes it harder for them to grow, create jobs, and support their communities. Raising the threshold for paying this onerous tax from $7,000 to $20,000 is going to ease the financial pressure on employers struggling with rising costs due to inflation.

“On behalf of our small business members, I want to thank Rep. Mike Cheokas and Sen. John Albers for taking the lead in getting this question through the General Assembly and onto the ballot, but most of all I want to thank voters for helping the small businesses that do so much for their communities.”
