Updating Ohio’s Revised Code Benefits Small Business Owners

NFIB State Executive Director Roger Geiger center spoke at a news conference on Jan 26 2023 with Ohio Gov Mike DeWine left and Lt Gov Jon Husted
“When Governor DeWine signed Senate Bill 9, he placed Ohio on the path toward much-needed regulatory reform. It calls for certain state agencies to reduce regulations by 30% by Jan. 30, 2025. This is a common sense approach that would continue to guarantee the public’s public safety and welfare while easing the burden on Ohio’s small businesses. “Complying with government rules and regulations costs the typical small business an average of $60,000 per year. And small businesses usually cannot afford teams of compliance officers to ensure they follow every little mandate. That burden usually falls to the owners themselves, the people who flip on the lights in the morning and lock up at night. “Our more than 20,000 members in Ohio appreciate the governor’s commitment to easing their burden by updating the Ohio Administrative Code so that it is clearer and easier for them to understand and easier for them to stay in compliance. NFIB looks forward to continuing to work with the DeWine-Husted administration to continue moving Ohio’s economy forward by allowing small business owners to do what they do best, create jobs and grow their businesses.”
