The National Federation of Independent Business, the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, today presented U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson with the Guardian of Small Business Award, the organization’s most prestigious legislative recognition.

“Congressman Hudson has been a strong advocate for small businesses in the 8th District and throughout the state,” NFIB State Director Gregg Thompson said. “He understands the issues affecting North Carolina’s job creators and earned a 100% NFIB voting record this term by supporting pro-small business policies and opposing bad legislation that would have made it harder for local businesses to grow and create jobs.”

“NFIB presents the Guardian of Small Business Award to members of Congress who have proven to be real champions of small businesses,” NFIB President and CEO Brad Close said. “Congressman Hudson has been a reliable voice for small businesses, earning a 100% NFIB voting record for the 117th Congress. He has supported pro-growth policies such as the Paycheck Protection Act Extension Act of 2021 and opposed legislation that would have harmed the small business economy like the Raise the Wage Act and the PRO Act of 2021. We are pleased to name Congressman Richard Hudson a Guardian of Small Business.”

NFIB’s Guardian of Small Business Award is reserved for lawmakers who vote consistently with small businesses on key issues identified by small business owners. Those who voted with small business on key issues 70% or more of the time during the 117th Congress earned the NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award. NFIB informs lawmakers in advance which votes will be considered NFIB Key Votes and asks lawmakers to support the consensus views of our membership. We also remind them that the results will be reported back to the NFIB membership.
