TAKE ACTION: Tell Iowa Lawmakers to Rein in Energy Costs

February 3, 2026

The rising cost of energy is a burden on small businesses in Iowa

Iowa’s energy market remains a monopoly, with limited oversight and few protections for small business ratepayers. Utility companies continue to monopolize and raise the cost of energy while small businesses continue to face rising energy bills that strain their budgets and limit growth.

The lack of options harms consumers and it drives up prices.

Sadly, this is a cost that will continue to rise if the legislature does nothing about it, which is why your voice is needed.

NFIB is urging lawmakers this legislative session to strengthen the authority and oversight capacity of the Iowa Utilities Board to ensure that monopoly energy providers are operating in the best interest of consumers and the state’s economy.
