Small Business WIN: MO Legislature Repeals Prop A!

Small Business WIN: MO Legislature Repeals Prop A!

May 19, 2025

The Missouri Legislature repealed Prop A as session concludes

On May 14, 2025, the Missouri Senate voted to repeal portions of Prop A including the costly sick leave requirements and mandated minimum wage increases. NFIB has strongly advocated for its repeal and is pleased the Missouri Legislature finally took legislative action.

Members of the Senate forced a vote on the bill using the Previous Question (PQ) process, a rarely used rule which requires two-thirds of the Senate to approve the PQ and forces a vote on the legislation at hand. House Bill 567 passed 22-11 and it now goes to Gov. Kehoe to sign.

The SunTimes News quotes NFIB Missouri State Director Brad Jones following the Senate’s vote: “Small business owners throughout the state thank the Missouri Legislature for eliminating the costly and burdensome mandates included in Prop A. As we near the end of session, this repeal will provide much needed relief to the small business community as they continue to manage various economic challenges. We appreciate the Senate for prioritizing small businesses and passing HB 567.”

Thank you to all Missouri NFIB members who took action and participated in our advocacy efforts to get Prop A repealed!
