Small Business Reaction to Governor's Legislative Proposal

The following statement can be attributed to the National Federation of Independent Business’ Connecticut state director Andy Markowski in response to Governor Ned Lamont’s announcement that his first legislative proposal of 2023 is to restore Connecticut’s pass-through entity tax credit to its original level, which allows small business owners to save money and claim a larger credit on their personal returns.

“Small business owners here in Connecticut are pleased to hear that the Governor is taking action to help them stay in business during this rocky economic climate,” said Andy Markowski, NFIB State Director in Connecticut. “While small business owners deal with supply chain issues, inflation, and problems hiring qualified workers, restoring the full value of the pass-through entity tax credit is an important step that signals Connecticut values and wants to keep its job creators in business. Our small business owners already face countless other taxes and government mandates and welcome any efforts to free up money they will put back into their businesses and communities.”

“NFIB thanks Governor Lamont and his Administration for putting forth this proposal today and we urge the legislature to follow suit and include this important tax policy in the budget this year.”
