Session is Ending Soon – Take Action Now on Important Legislation

March 3, 2026

The Florida Legislature is set to adjourn on March 13

As the Florida Legislature nears the end of the 2026 session, now is the time to take action and advocate for legislation important to your small business! NFIB is looking for final passage on the following pieces of legislation:

HB 191/SB 216 – Stop Fraudulent Unemployment Claims

This legislation would require unemployment beneficiaries to prove that they are searching for employment and would disqualify them if they do not accept offered employment. It would also create a hotline where businesses could volunteer information on suspicious unemployment claims. TAKE ACTION: Send a message to your legislators today to stop fraudulent unemployment claims in Florida!

HB 103/SB 122 – Eliminate Local Business Taxes

This legislation would prohibit cities and counties from assessing occupational licenses upon businesses doing commerce in their locality. It will remove the authority for counties and municipalities to levy local business taxes, commonly referred to as business tax receipts or occupational license taxes. Total elimination of occupational licenses is possible, resulting in a return of over $183 million to Florida business owners. ACT NOW: Be the voice of small business and ask your legislators to eliminate occupational licenses!
