Proposed Rules for Minnesota Paid Family & Medical Leave Published

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) published its final proposed rules regulating the 2023 Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) law in the State Register on November 25, 2024. A copy of the proposed permanent rules can be found here: Proposed Permanent Rules Regulating Paid Leave.

During the initial public comment period on draft rules for PFML, DEED held a series of virtual listening sessions, soliciting public input and written comments to help inform the final proposed rules. NFIB submitted comments during this period, but DEED passed on a lot of opportunities to strengthen program integrity and balance the interests of employers.

DEED will collect public comments on the proposed rules through the Office of Administrative Hearings website through January 3, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. CST. Office of Administrative Hearings Comments On Rules. NFIB will continue to review the proposed rules to find opportunities to represent the interest of small and independent business.
