North Carolina's economy is built on its small businesses

NFIB State Director Gregg Thompson said today that it’s important for shoppers to support small, independent businesses during the final weekend before Christmas and throughout the year.

“Small Business Saturday helped kick off the holiday shopping season, and it’s essential that we carry that spirit through the entire season,” Thompson said.

“North Carolina’s economy is built on its small businesses,” he said. “When you shop locally, more of your money stays in the community, helping to fund schools, maintain roads, and support essential services.”

Thompson encouraged shoppers to shop at local stores, eat at family-owned restaurants, and hire independent service providers whenever possible. “By supporting these Main Street businesses during the holidays and beyond, we can help them thrive, ensuring they continue to strengthen our communities in the coming year.”
