State Director Natalie Robinson went before two legislative committees to advocate on behalf of our small business members

NFIB State Director Natalie Robinson went before the House Government and Regulatory Reform Committee today and spoke in support of House Bill 1165, legislation that is designed to ease the regulatory burden on start-up companies.

In her written testimony, Robinson said, “Businesses deserve a ‘safe space’ in which they can test innovative products, services, business models and delivery mechanisms without immediately incurring all the normal regulatory consequences of engaging in the activity in question.

“Regulatory state agencies use sandboxes to keep up to date with fast-paced innovation and promote market competition without sacrificing consumer protection,” Robinson said. “States focused on advancing innovation see sandboxes as a means, not an end. This program would allow agencies to embrace insights gained from a regulatory sandbox to improve rulemaking, supervision, and enforcement policies so that the entire market can benefit.”

Robinson also went before the House Committee on Public Health today and spoke in support of House Bill 1327, legislation aimed at creating more transparency in the healthcare space.

In her written testimony, Robinson said Indiana’s small business owners are especially interested in a provision regarding pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) reform.

“Small business pharmacies are struggling due to the unfair practices of PBMs,” Robinson said in her written testimony. “NFIB supports reforms to ensure a fair and level playing field for small business pharmacies and to bring PBM transparency and accountability for all small businesses purchasing health insurance.”
