“The small business community is ready to partner with the Governor, his Administration, and the General Assembly on making Maryland the best place to start and run a business."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ANNAPOLIS, MD (February 7, 2024) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy association, released the following statement by State Director Mike O’Halloran in response to Gov. Wes Moore’s State of the State Address this afternoon:

“The small business community is ready to partner with the Governor, his Administration, and the General Assembly on making Maryland the best place to start and run a business. But we have to be honest on what it will cost Marylanders to fund the programs that are adding billions of dollars to our structural deficit. Small business owners do not have a choice. They must operate within their means or rethink how they do business. They expect policy makers to do the same and do it without resorting to tax hikes on them and their customers.”
