NFIB partnered with the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia on Feb. 19 to host the annual Small Business Day at the Capitol.

The event, held at the Health Building at 47 Trinity Avenue SW, gave small business owners from across the state the opportunity to network and meet with their elected leaders to discuss the issues affecting Georgia’s small businesses.

The morning began with registration and coffee and pastries before attendees heard from several of the state’s top elected leaders during the morning program and legislative update. Speakers included House Speaker John Burns, House Majority Leader Chuck Efstration, Senate President Pro Tem Larry Walker III, and Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper.

Gov. Brian Kemp also welcomed attendees with a prerecorded video message, thanking small business owners for their vital role in Georgia’s economy.

After the program, small business owners were given the opportunity to “work the ropes” and speak with their legislators at the State Capitol. NFIB State Director Hunter Loggins, “This was a chance for them to see first hand how things work in Atlanta and talk to lawmakers about the challenges facing their businesses.”

The event ended with a legislative luncheon, catered by the Fickle Pickle, an NFIB member business in Roswell. Loggins said the luncheon gave small business owners one more change to connect with lawmakers and discuss the issues affecting their businesses, their employees, and their communities.

“On behalf of our members, I want to thank the speakers and legislators for taking time to engage with our members,” Loggins said. “Our members ensure the voice of small business will be heard in Atlanta.”
