NFIB Hosts Small Business Roundtable with Congressman Gus Bilirakis

August 19, 2025

The discussion focused on small business federal priorities

Pasco County small business owners gathered for a candid discussion with Congressman Gus Bilirakis on the state of the small business economy and federal priorities affecting Main Street.

The event took place at NFIB member Manufacturers Distributors Inc. in Odessa, and several topics were discussed, such as repealing the invasive beneficial ownership requirements, the success of making the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent, and the need to pass the REPAIR Act.

“Earlier this summer, Congress passed legislation that made the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent for Florida’s small businesses,” said Bill Herrle, NFIB Florida Executive Director. “Congressman Bilirakis was a strong supporter of making this crucial deduction permanent and advocating to get it done before it expired. He is also the Chairman for Commerce, Manufacturing, & Trade Subcommittee, where he has prioritized Right to Repair legislation, a top issue for Florida’s small businesses. We appreciate Rep. Bilirakis for taking the time to meet with our members and remain engaged in small business priorities.”

TAKE ACTION:

  • Although FinCEN issued a regulation exempting U.S. small businesses from the beneficial ownership reporting requirements, Congress still needs to repeal the law that established this unconstitutional mandate. Keep the pressure on Congress to fully repeal beneficial ownership reporting – send them a message now!
  • Access to relevant vehicle data is essential for independently owned auto repair shops to repair passenger vehicles safely and efficiently – but automakers are restricting access to vehicle information. Ask your representative to support the REPAIR Act and stop this anticompetitive behavior!
