Massachusetts AG’s “Junk Fee” Regulations Take Effect September 2nd

August 18, 2025

State guidance is now available for business owners along with a compliance webinar video.

On September 2nd, Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell’s “junk fee” regulations will go into effect for businesses and consumers. When first released, NFIB offered comments on how these new rules impact the state’s small employers.

According to the AG, the regs are designed to provide clarity for consumers by presenting the final price of a service or product by including all additional fees upfront before payment information is entered.  The final version of the regulations includes some changes from what was first proposed, and state guidance is now available for business owners along with a compliance webinar video.
