Officials said the change will save taxpayers $100,000 a year

The Louisiana Department of Revenue said today it will no longer print and send copies of the Louisiana state sales tax return to businesses registered for sales tax in the state. Officials said the  change will save taxpayers more than $100,000 a year in printing and mailing costs.

Beginning this month, businesses will have three methods to submit state sales tax returns and payments:

  • File and pay electronically through the Louisiana Taxpayer Access Point (LaTAP) account management portal at www.revenue.louisiana.gov/LaTAP. File returns, make payments, and view account history and activity online.
  • File and pay electronically through Parish E-File, the online portal for the secure filing of state and parish and city sales and use tax returns. Parish E-File also permits the filing of multiple parish/city returns from one centralized site.
  • Download a printed copy of the state sales tax return from www.revenue.louisiana.gov/Forms.

The timely filing of Louisiana state sales tax returns and the remittance of sales taxes due the state remain the sole responsibility of the taxpayer. Failure to comply can result in interest and penalties.
