The report shines a light on what's happening in the Yellowhammer State
On Tuesday, NFIB released its Small Business Economic Trends Survey for September. The national survey showed that the Small Business Optimism Index was still above its 52-year average but fell two points in September — the first drop in three months.
Meanwhile, the Uncertainty Index rose seven points from August to 100, the fourth-highest reading in over 50 years.
State Director Rosemary Elebash said the national numbers reflect what she’s hearing from NFIB members across the state.
“Our small business members are coping with inflation, supply chain issues, and a tight labor market, and that combination makes it difficult to plan for the future,” she said.
NFIB is a member-driven organization advocating on behalf of small and independent businesses nationwide.
