During this week’s NFIB Fly-In in Washington, Georgia Leadership Council member Cade Joiner and Regional State Director Nathan Humphrey presented NFIB President & CEO Brad Close and Vice President Tim Goodrich with a framed copy of a full-page ad that ran this spring in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The ad, which ran on April 24, thanked Gov. Brian Kemp for pushing for legislation to stop lawsuit abuse in the state. The framed ad was signed by the governor and included the message, “Thanks for your support.”

The legislation was signed into law in May. Senate Bill 68 deals with “phantom damages” and premises liability, while Senate Bill 69 adds new rules for third-party groups that fund lawsuits.

NFIB made lawsuit reform its top priority this session. The ad and a statewide campaign helped build support for these important changes.
