Gov. Greg Abbott Earns Crucial Small Business Endorsement

The NFIB Texas PAC said today it has endorsed Gov. Greg Abbott in his campaign for reelection. The political action committee is comprised of NFIB members from throughout the state.

“Inflation, supply chain disruptions, and a lack of workers have created challenges for small businesses in Texas and across the country,” NFIB State Director Annie Spilman said. “Governor Abbott understands how important small businesses are to the Texas economy, and he’s worked to secure an environment that allows local businesses not only to survive but to thrive.

“In his second term, Governor Abbott helped the state’s small business community by stabilizing the unemployment insurance trust fund and signing legislation protecting owners against frivolous COVID-19 lawsuits,” Spilman said. “He has made business property tax relief a priority in next year’s legislative session and supports efforts to stop local governments from imposing harsh mandates and regulations that go beyond state and federal law already requires.

“Greg Abbott has been a strong, steady supporter of small business, which is why Texas small business owners gladly support him in this year’s race,” Spilman said.

Governor Abbott said, “Small businesses are the engine of the Texas economy. NFIB has been a great partner in our efforts to keep the Texas economy booming, and I’m proud to have their support.”

Today’s endorsement puts the considerable grassroots support of the state’s small businesses behind the Abbott campaign. Small business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for recruiting friends, family members, and acquaintances to vote. NFIB will encourage its Texas members to help turn out the powerful small business voting bloc on Election Day.
