In his budget address and other public comments, Governor Phil Scott called on Vermont lawmakers to roll back expensive and controversial parts of recently enacted climate change laws. Specifically, Scott called for eliminating the ability for special interest groups to file lawsuits under the 2020 Global Warming Solutions Act (GWSA).

The U.S. Supreme Court lifted the block of beneficial ownership reporting in NFIB’s lawsuit, but an injunction in another case remains in place. Meanwhile, NFIB led a coalition of 65 trade associations in sending a letter of support for reintroducing a bill to permanently repeal the requirement.
NFIB filed an amicus brief in the case CAI v. Treasury concerning the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) and beneficial ownership reporting requirements.
Much of the focus will be recovery from Hurricane Helene.
