Small Business Deduction Champion Awards Announced

Small Business Deduction Champion Awards Announced

February 17, 2026

Members of Congress recognized for ongoing efforts that stopped a massive tax hike on small businesses

What it means: NFIB announced a list of Small Business Deduction Champion pennant recipients, reserved for Members of Congress who supported the 20% Small Business Tax Deduction.

Our take: “Making the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent was a landmark victory for America’s small business owners, and a culmination of numerous years of hard work,” said NFIB President Brad Close. “We are proud to recognize the lawmakers who paved the way for small business owners to keep more of their hard-earned money and continue creating jobs, growing their operations, and investing in their communities.”

The Small Business Deduction Champion awards spotlight Members of Congress who supported and played a crucial role in making the 20% Small Business Tax Deduction permanent. These lawmakers prevented a massive tax hike on more than 33 million small businesses by sponsoring, supporting, and bringing attention and focus to multiple pieces of legislation to make the Small Business Deduction permanent, giving owners the freedom to continue growing their business. The awards mark this distinction on a pennant that Members can display in their Congressional office.

Making the Small Business Deduction permanent was the top priority for NFIB for the past seven years. This tax relief will help small businesses level the playing field with larger competitors, confidently hire and retain quality employees, and continue building for the future.

The Small Business Tax Deduction was signed into law in July of 2025 and will continue to provide permanent tax relief for small businesses nationwide.
