Small Business Calls on U.S. House Committee to Advance REPAIR Act

Small Business Calls on U.S. House Committee to Advance REPAIR Act

January 20, 2026

NFIB submits testimony for the record

What it means: Vehicle repair access affects millions of consumers and small businesses across the country. NFIB’s testimony to the U.S. House outlines the impact the REPAIR Act would have by giving small businesses and consumers access to reliable and affordable vehicle repair.

Our take: As vehicle technology continues to advance, both consumers and small businesses rely on access to critical data on how to fix or repair their vehicles. Advancing the REPAIR Act, which will eliminate the barriers blocking data access for tools and repairs for autobody shops, will give consumers more choices and create more competition to drive down costs.

Take Action: Share how lowering auto repair costs benefits your small business!

Millions of American small businesses rely on vehicles for their day-to-day operations. The Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair (REPAIR) Act will help small businesses reduce lengthy wait times and expensive repair costs by providing local independent repair shops with data that is critical to safely repair vehicles.

NFIB sent a testimony for the record to the U.S. House highlighting the issues small businesses face when access to complete vehicle repairs is restricted. This bipartisan bill encourages competition by allowing small businesses and consumers to take their vehicles to local and trusted autobody shops, saving time and keeping money in hardworking communities.

With small businesses operating on tight margins, taking additional time to wait for repairs and traveling farther to have them done is a roadblock many small businesses cannot afford. The REPAIR Act will facilitate faster, safer, and more affordable auto repairs for small businesses nationwide.

Read the full testimony sent to the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce detailing how this critical legislation benefits millions of Americans.

Take Action: Let Congress know what passing the REPAIR Act would mean for your small business!
