NFIB Key Votes historic pro-small business legislation
What it means: The U.S. House recently passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, whichincludes many top small business priorities such as increasing and making the Small Business Tax Deduction permanent. This bill is an NFIB Key Vote for the 119th Congress.
Our take: “The One Big Beautiful Bill Act includes the most important thing Congress can do to help small businesses and their workers– increasing and making the Small Business Deduction permanent,” said Adam Temple, NFIB Senior Vice President for Advocacy.
Take Action: Urge Congress to provide over 33 million small businesses with permanent tax relief before the 20% Small Business Deduction expires.
One of the most pro-small business pieces of legislation in recent history is moving through Congress. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which passed in the U.S. House of Representatives earlier this month, includes many top small business priorities. NFIB sent a letter to the U.S. House urging a vote in favor of the legislation and made it an NFIB Key Vote for the 119th Congress.
The 20% Small Business Deduction was created to level the playing field between small and big businesses, but if it expires, nine out of 10 small businesses will face a tax hike, while the corporate tax rate remains at 21%. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act would make the deduction permanent, and increase its value from 20%-23%.
“The bill also provides a tax cut for small business owners through lower individual rates, encourages new capital investments, and helps small business owners provide greater health care benefits to their employees. Members of Congress have a historic opportunity to provide over 33 million small business owners with permanent tax relief and NFIB strongly encourages them to do so,” said Adam Temple, NFIB Senior Vice President for Advocacy.
Recent NFIB polling found that 93% of Americans believe Congress should stand up for small business by making the Small Business Deduction a priority. It is time for Congress to act before it is too late. Urge your elected officials to make the Small Business Deduction permanent.
