NFIB Member Discusses How His Small Business Gives Back

NFIB Member Discusses How His Small Business Gives Back

February 19, 2025

Podcast highlights research on ways small businesses contribute to their communities

The Small Business Rundown podcast features NFIB member Brian Funtleyder, co-founder and owner of Boundless Adventures, discussing ways his small business gives back to his community. He mentions pro-business policies like the 20% Small Business Tax Deduction that offer tax savings that help him do so. NFIB Research Center Executive Director Holly Wade shares NFIB’s recent survey findings on the ways pro-small business policies help make it possible for Main Street owners to give back.

While facing uncertainty and burdensome regulations, small businesses still find ways to give back to their communities. “When we started these businesses, the community embraced us with open arms,” said Funtleyder. “We feel a sense of obligation that we have to give back.”

NFIB Research Director Holly Wade breaks down the top three ways small businesses contribute to their communities found in NFIB’s recent survey.

“We looked to see if their volunteer activities were related to their time in participating personally in volunteer activities and contributions,” said Wade. “Cash contributions were the most reported type of volunteer activity with three of four businesses giving to education related programs, and two of three businesses giving to sports related activities.”
