WATCH: NFIB Texas Highlights Small Business Economy in KDFW Report

February 13, 2024 Last Edit: June 5, 2025

“Small business owners aren't too optimistic that the economy is going to be improving any time soon.”

In an interview with KDFW’s Shaun Rabb, NFIB State Director Jeff Burdett shared the results of NFIB’s latest jobs report, which found that nearly 40 percent of owners reported they could not fill open positions.

“Small business owners aren’t too optimistic that the economy is going to be improving any time soon. Only 14 percent of our small business owners plan to create jobs in the next three months, which is down two points from December, but also is the lowest since May 2020, at the height of the pandemic,” Burdett explained.
