State Director Leah Long tells SuperTalk Mississippi what's at stake for small businesses

NFIB State Director Leah Long appeared on SuperTalk Mississippi on Tuesday to talk about the start of the 2025 legislative session.

Speaking with host Gerard Gibert, Long said, “We have a big interest in lowering the personal income tax rate.” Most small businesses are organized as pass-through entities, meaning the revenue passes through the business to the owners, who pay taxes at the individual rate, she said.

“Right now we’re watching and hopeful that they continue to lower that number, and it would be great to phase it out one day,” Long said.
