The U.S. Supreme Court lifted the block of beneficial ownership reporting in NFIB’s lawsuit, but an injunction in another case remains in place. Meanwhile, NFIB led a coalition of 65 trade associations in sending a letter of support for reintroducing a bill to permanently repeal the requirement.

NFIB is disappointed by today’s decision at the U.S. Supreme Court in NFIB’s lawsuit challenging the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA).
The federal government and NFIB both filed with the U.S. Supreme Court on whether the indefinite hold on beneficial ownership reporting should remain. Urge Congress to provide permanent relief to small businesses and fully repeal this requirement.
A federal appeals court put the beneficial ownership reporting requirement on hold while the court considers NFIB’s lawsuit arguing the law is unconstitutional.
The court’s latest decision reinstates the nationwide injunction, blocking the burdensome beneficial ownership information (BOI) reporting requirements for small businesses while the court fully considers the government’s appeal.
