Texas ranked #6 in the Rich States, Poor States: ALEC-Laffer State Economic Competitiveness Index, its best ranking in 17 years of the annual report.
AUSTIN (April 9, 2024) – Award-winning economists ranked Texas #6 overall in competitiveness and economic outlook in the 17th edition of the Rich States, Poor States: ALEC-Laffer State Economic Competitiveness Index.
NFIB State Director Jeff Burdett commended the Texas Legislature for prioritizing tax relief during the 2023 session, calling it a ‘solid foundation’ for future tax relief and greater opportunity.
“The ALEC-Laffer State Economic Competitiveness Index confirms what Texans know to be true: we’re a tremendous beacon of free enterprise. The tax cuts package supported by the voters has laid a solid foundation for greater economic opportunity for years to come. It’s incumbent on lawmakers to build upon this momentum and pass inventory tax relief so our small business owners can continue to raise wages, expand their operations, and invest in their communities.”
