LINCOLN, Neb., Jan. 14, 2021—From Bob Hallstrom, Nebraska state director for the National Federation of Independent Business, the state and nation’s largest and leading small-business association, on Gov. Pete Ricketts’ State-of-the-State Address before the Legislature this morning.

“Small-business owners, like all Nebraskans, were pleased to hear the governor tenaciously sticking to bringing real property tax relief to the state, and we support his commitment to control state spending and his desire to expand greater broadband access.

“Equally important to Main Street enterprises is what they didn’t hear in the governor’s brief speech, no mention of new or higher taxes, not a peep about any new regulations. The importance of this cannot be understated. What it means in all practicality is that small-business owners can make more assured decisions on increasing investments in their enterprises and whether they can afford to bring a new employee on board.”
