Save March 28 for a Mid-Session Update

February 28, 2024 Last Edit: June 5, 2025

Microsoft Teams meeting to provide members with the progress of bills most harmful or helpful for small businesses.

Normally, the lack of action in the Legislature on perennial issues such as the minimum wage, unemployment insurance, or workers’ compensation would be good news, but this is the Colorado General Assembly, and while the progressives in control of it aren’t harassing small business owners with their traditional worries, they are more than making up for it with others, such as:

  • a bill forbidding any additional permits to drill for oil and gas
  • a bill expanding the Deceptive Trade Practices Act to allow the attorney general to sue a business for just one act, instead of the current requirement of a pattern
  • a bill outlawing hidden fees that might have hidden entrapments.

One good measure granting a so-called Right to Repair electronic devices to anyone would break the monopoly manufacturers have on the business, but that is an exception not the rule in this session of the Legislature.

NFIB is hosting a Mid-Session Update for its members to hear more about the above bills and others that will have an impact on their ability to own, operate, and grow their enterprises.

It’s free of charge and will be conducted on Microsoft Teams, so make it a date to join us on Thursday, March 28, at Noon.

For more information, send an email to NFIB Grassroots Manager M.L. McGinty.
