RSVP: Free Webinar About Illinois’ Adoption of Vehicle Emissions Standards

January 31, 2025

Sign up today for a FREE webinar about Illinois' proposed adoption of California’s vehicle emissions standards

The Illinois Pollution Control Board is holding hearings on adopting some of California’s vehicle emissions standards: Advanced Clean Cars II, Advanced Clean Trucks, and Low NOx Heavy-Duty Omnibus Regulation. The hearings are scheduled for March 10-12, 2025. There will be an opportunity for public comment on March 10 (in-person) and March 11 (online).
The proposed rules, if adopted, would:
  • phase out the sale of new gasoline- and diesel-powered cars, pick-up trucks, work vans, and SUVs (passenger cars and light-duty trucks), leading to a complete ban on the sale of non-electric vehicles in 2035 (with limited exceptions).
  • reduce the sale of traditional gasoline- and diesel-powered medium- and heavy-duty trucks (Class 2b through Class 8) – By 2035, 55% of Class 2b-3 new truck sales would have to be electric, 75% of Class 4-8 new straight truck sales would have to be electric, and 40% of new truck tractor sales would have to be electric.
  • impose sweeping new testing and emissions standards on new heavy-duty trucks.

NFIB, in collaboration with the Mid-West Trucking Association, is hosting a FREE virtual event on Thursday, February 13 from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm to discuss these proposed regulatory changes and inform small business owners how to make their voices heard and push back on these policies!
Please contact Grassroots Manager Liz Roe at liz.roe@nfib.org if you have questions or are having problems registering for this event.
