Report Card Time on Wyoming’s Legislators

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Tony Gagliardi, Wyoming State Director, Tony.Gagliardi@nfib.org or Tony Malandra, Senior Media Manager, Anthony.Malandra@nfib.org CHEYENNE, Wyo., Aug. 1, 2022—As it does every two years in states across the nation, America’s largest and leading small-business association issued its biennial voting records, today for Wyoming, showing which lawmakers were true friends of Main Street enterprises in the legislative session that just passed. “Wyoming was blessed to have the state legislators it did for these past two years,” said Tony Gagliardi, Wyoming state director for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). “They fundamentally understood that a pandemic-era economy is not the time to raise taxes or promulgate new regulations, but instead a time to see what could be done to help small businesses remain solvent. In addition to battling every COVID-related difficulty still with us, Main Street enterprises are now contending with inflation, supply-chain disruptions, worker shortages and soaring gas prices.” NFIB graded legislators on their votes on seven issues that, remarkably, passed both the State Senate and State House and were signed into law by Gov. Mark Gordon. A brief explanation of the seven bills and every lawmaker’s vote on them can be read here. “No senator or representative had a lower score than 57%, 31 had 100% pro-small-business voting records, and everyone else was in between,” said Gagliardi. “This is phenomenal and has made me the envy of a few of my counterparts in other states. I’m hoping the 2023-2024 Legislature can do it again.” Keep up with the latest Wyoming small-business news at www.nfib.com/WY and on Twitter @NFIB_CA ### For almost 80 years, NFIB has been advocating on behalf of America’s small and independent business owners, both in Washington, D.C., and in all 50 state capitals.
