Early voting in the Commonwealth began Friday, September 22. Before you vote, make sure you are registered to vote in Virginia. You can do that by heading HERE and clicking “register to vote.” You can also update your registration if you moved recently or need to find the correct polling place for your current address. You MUST complete this step before October 16 if you want to avoid voting by provisional ballot. You can fill out a provisional ballot at your correct voting place IF you have registered to vote after October 16 and before or on election day. The local electoral board will review the provisional ballots to determine if the vote will be counted. That process starts the day after Election Day and must be finished within a week. If you’d like to vote by mail, keep this in mind: the deadline to apply for a ballot mailed to your residence is October 27 and your request must be received by your local voter registration office by 5:00 pm. You can request an absentee ballot online by clicking here. On October 28, all voter registration offices open for early voting.
