The legisltion will prevent small businesses and other companies from being named in asbestos lawsuits where they have no liability
OH Senate Votes to Protect Small Business from Unfair Litigation
NFIB State Director Chris Ferruso released the following statement on Senate Bill 63:
“Senate Bill 63 is important pro-business legislation that will prevent small businesses and other companies from being named in asbestos lawsuits where they have no liability while ensuring that injured parties can pursue claims against the parties who harmed them.
“Small businesses aren’t sitting on piles of cash, and they don’t have and can’t afford big legal departments to defend against every overreaching legal action. The cost of defending itself against just one frivolous claim can be enough to put a small business out of business, even if the judge dismisses the claim.
“That’s why our small business members want to thank the Ohio Senate for passing SB63. Our hope now is the House will follow the Senate’s lead and pass SB63 and that Governor DeWine will sign it into law.”
