NFIB Vermont Hosts Comprehensive Virtual General Assembly Recap

Thank you to those members who were able to register and attend our Vermont General Assembly virtual recap. State Director Shawn Shouldice did a deep dive on all the legislative action that took place in Montpelier this year, and its potential impact on small business. In the just completed session, the Vermont Legislature passed the “Clean Heat Standard,” increased your payroll taxes with a state-run childcare program, and imposed other new regulations to comply with, so there was much to discuss. Gov. Phil Scott stood with NFIB and small business owners, vetoing both the Clean Heat Standard bill and the childcare payroll tax, among other bills, but the Democrat-Progressive super-majorities in the Senate and the House overrode both vetoes. As promised during the event, here is a link to the recording of our discussion. If you have any questions, please reach out to Shawn at Shawn.Shouldice@nfib.org. NFIB anticipates hosting more virtual events like this in the future for our members! If you are interested in a specific policy topic, please send along your ideas to Grassroots Manager Julianna Rauf at Julianna.Rauf@nfib.org. Also as mentioned previously, here is a link for the 80th anniversary video from NFIB President Brad Close in case you missed it: NFIB Celebrates 80th Anniversary – NFIB.
