NFIB Texas to Co-Chair Governor Greg Abbott’s Small Business Freedom Council

AUSTIN (Dec. 5, 2024) – NFIB State Director Jeff Burdett was named co-chair of the Small Business Freedom Council, created by Governor Greg Abbott to review government efficiency for Texas businesses. Burdett will chair the council with Glenn Hamer, CEO of the Texas Association of Business.

Following the announcement, Burdett said:

“Here in Texas, our recipe of pro-growth policies, including a regulatory environment driven by common sense, has made the Lone Star State a beacon of entrepreneurialism. But there are still opportunities to lessen the regulatory and administrative burdens on our small business owners in Texas. I want to thank Governor Abbott for creating this Council to ensure that Texas remains the best place to start a business.”

Background:

Gov. Abbott instructed Texas state agency heads to provide recommendations to cut unnecessary government regulations. Those recommendations are due to the Governor’s Office by January 13, 2025.
