NFIB Names Two Nevada Lawmakers as Guardians of Small Business

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Randi Thompson Nevada State Director, 775-830-8407, randi.thompson@nfib.org or Tony Malandra, Senior Media Manager, 415-640-5156, anthony.malandra@nfib.org CARSON CITY, Nev., Nov. 1, 2022—NFIB, the state and nation’s leading small-business association, announced today that two lawmakers, one from each chamber, are being recognized as Guardians of Small Business for 2021-22. Senator Ira Hansen (14th District) and Assemblyman Andy Matthews (37th District) demonstrated exceptional commitment and support of the small-business community. Senator Hansen received a perfect 100% on NFIB’s most recent state legislative voting record in Nevada, and Assemblyman Matthews voted with the interests of small-business owners 92% of the time, tied for the highest score in the State Assembly. You can find NFIB’s 2021-22 Nevada State Voting Record here. The Guardian of Small Business Award is the most prestigious honor that the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) bestows on legislators in recognition of their efforts to support pro-small business policies and their fervent advocacy in Carson City on behalf of small and independently owned companies. “The last two years have been among the most challenging and unpredictable in recent memory for Nevada small-business owners,” said Randi Thompson, NFIB’s Nevada state director. “Just as our small businesses were starting to recover from pandemic-related shutdowns and restrictions, they are now navigating supply chain disruptions, a weak labor market, and record inflation, which is significantly worse in Nevada than elsewhere in the country. Senator Hanson and Assemblyman Matthews both recognize that successful small businesses are essential to our economy and our communities. It’s an honor to name them Guardians of Small Business in Nevada and I thank them for their continued leadership in the statehouse.” Keep up with the latest Nevada small-business news at www.nfib.com/nevada, where this news release can also be found, or by following NFIB on Twitter @NFIB_NV. ### For almost 80 years, NFIB has been advocating on behalf of America’s small and independent business owners, both in Washington, D.C., and in all 50 state capitals.
